GRAND CARAÏBE - MARTINIQUE
In February 2024, I traveled to Martinique to compete in the Grand Caraïbe Tour, a regional show-jumping competition that brings together riders from across the Caribbean. The event provided an exciting opportunity to represent Bermuda while competing against talented riders from several different countries.
One of the unique challenges of this competition was riding a borrowed horse, which meant I had very limited time to become familiar with my mount before entering the ring. This required me to rely on adaptability, strong communication with the horse, and quick decision-making throughout the course.
I competed in the 1.10-meter show-jumping class, facing a field of more than forty riders. The courses were technical and required precision, rhythm, and focus to navigate successfully. Throughout the event I also competed in a one-round class with a jump-off, where riders must complete a clear round before returning for a faster tie-breaking course.
Competing in Martinique was a valuable international experience that challenged my riding skills and adaptability. It allowed me to gain experience in a highly competitive environment while proudly representing Bermuda in the Caribbean show-jumping circuit.
